CRLA Tutor Training Level 1
The Tutor Training Program offered through the Academic Success Center is certified through the College Reading & Learning Association (CRLA) – and is designed to meet the requirements for the International Tutor Training Program (ITTPC) for certified tutors levels 1-3. Each training has specific learning objectives, hour requirements, and assignment guidelines.
Week 1 - Time Requirement (2 hours)

Week 2 - Time Requirement (2 hours)
Learning Connections Inventory | Let Me Learn Process - understanding the model and validating your profile | Identifying Patterns and Being Intentional | Readings: Put the Pencil Down sections 1.1, 1.2,1.3, and 1.6
Week 3 - Time Requirement (2 hours)
Bias and Judgment | Task Analysis | LCI Profile in a Team Setting | GAMES Model | Readings: NO READINGS DUE
Week 4 - Time Requirement (2 hours)
Communication for Tutors | Effective Questioning | Gibbs' Communication Model | Readings: Put the Pencil Down sections 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 5.4, and 5.5
Week 5 - Time Requirement (2 hours)
Positive reinforcement | Communicating Feedback: Passive vs Aggressive | Assertive Communication Techniques | Readings: Put the Pencil Down sections 6.1, 6.2, and 6.3
