CAS celebrates exceptional scholars at the Student Success Celebration Luncheon
The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) celebrated 22 exceptional scholars at a Student Success Celebration Luncheon. The event, held on April 28, and co-sponsored by CAS Dean鈥檚 Advisory Council members Michelle Turman 鈥�00 and Nikki Zolkos 鈥�03, brought together faculty, students, and donors to share the impact of private support on student experiences.

Spring CAS grads share student experience and look ahead to the future
The 哔咔漫画 (USF) awarded more than 7,100 degrees during spring commencement May 5-7. The ceremonies included recipients of 5,430 bachelor鈥檚, 1,492 master鈥檚, 221 doctoral degrees and eight specialist degrees. The College of Arts and Sciences accounted for over 2,000 of the total degrees awarded.

Heather Sellers鈥� 鈥淔ield Notes from the Flood Zone鈥� wins Florida Book Award
The Florida Book Awards, coordinated by the Florida State University Libraries, announced winners for the nation鈥檚 most comprehensive state book awards program. The program, established in 2006, celebrates the best of Florida literature.

MURP students place third in national competition to improve a Philadelphia neighborhood
USF College of Arts and Sciences Master of Urban and Regional Planning (MURP) program students Beneetta Mary Jose, Abdul Samad Agha, Varshini Renikunta, and Aditi Sugeerappa Hoti earned third place for their design in the American Planning Association National Planning Competition in April.

A global classroom experience that brought together 哔咔漫画 St. Petersburg students with peers in Moldova to conduct joint research while an international humanitarian crisis was unfolding nearby received the inaugural International Partnerships Award from the American Political Science Association (APSA) and the Political Studies Association (PSA).

哔咔漫画 St. Petersburg Psychology Professor Tiffany Chenneville has been awarded the American Psychological Association鈥檚 (APA) Springfield Policy Congressional Fellowship, which will allow her to work with a member of Congress on policies to advance the health and well-being of LGBTQIA+ populations.

CAS faculty cited in President Biden鈥檚 economic report
Research from USF College of Arts and Sciences faculty was cited in the 2023 Economic Report of the President. The report, released in March, includes a reflection by President Joseph Biden regarding the administration鈥檚 economic accomplishments, opportunities and challenges ahead.

Four CAS graduates named Outstanding Young Alumni
The 哔咔漫画 Alumni Association held its annual Outstanding Young Alumni Awards ceremony on April 20 at the Gibbons Alumni Center at its Tampa campus. Four out of the six extraordinary honorees this year are College of Arts & Sciences graduates.

19 new students welcomed into Dean鈥檚 Student Leadership Society
The USF College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) welcomed 19 new members to the Dean鈥檚 Student Leadership Society (DSLS). DSLS students are chosen for their superior leadership skills, often serving as volunteer coordinators, executive board members, or critical points of contact on behalf of CAS. DSLS also provides students with mentorship opportunities, professional development workshops, and year-round networking.

鈥楾he Lesson Is Murder鈥�: USF criminologist and graduate students debut true crime docuseries on Hulu
A new true crime docuseries, 鈥淭he Lesson Is Murder,鈥� follows 哔咔漫画 criminology Associate Professor Bryanna Fox and her five graduate students as they show the reality of how researchers analyze convicted murderers鈥� personality traits and motives to develop psychological profiles. Dr. Fox is cofounder of the USF College of Arts and Sciences Center for Justice Research and Policy.
