Overview

The Center for Victim Advocacy and Violence Prevention provides free and confidential services to all ßÙßÇÂþ»­ students, faculty, and staff. We serve men, women, and people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expression who have experience crime, violence or abuse, on or off campus either recently or in the past.

Mission

The mission of the Center for Victim Advocacy and Violence Prevention is to contribute to a community that is safe and supportive through comprehensive prevention, empowerment, and survivor-centered services.

Confidentiality Statement

The USF Center for Victim Advocacy and Violence Prevention assures confidentiality to all who utilize the department's services. All of the advocates are certified by the state of Florida's attorney general office as confidential advocates and are afforded privilege under Florida state law. Client names, identifying information and any disclosures will be kept confidential unless an advocate receives explicit permission from the client to release the information to a specific third party.

The following situations are exceptions to this policy:

  • An advocate has knowledge that a client is experiencing suicidal or homicidal ideation and has reason to believe there is concern for the client's safety.
  • An advocate has knowledge that someone who is currently a child or vulnerable adult is experiencing abuse.
  • A judge orders the department to release information to the court.
