Tenure and Promotion

In order for the University to perform its functions effectively, it is essential that faculty members feel free to express new ideas and divergent viewpoints in their teaching and research.  In the process of teaching and research, there must be freedom to question and challenge accepted "truths."  A university must create an atmosphere that encourages faculty members to develop and share different ideas and divergent views and to make inquiries unbounded by present norms.  Tenure contributes significantly to the creation of such an atmosphere.

Applications are due to Provost's Office on the second Monday of January. A memo will be sent to College Deans & Associate Deans the second week of June notifying them about that year’s application period. The Tenure and Promotion process is generated through the Archivum System. If you have any questions regarding the new system, please send inquiries here. The guidelines in effect can be accessed below.

For training in use of the Archivum System, clicking on the Canvas shown below will allow anyone to “self-enroll” in the Faculty Information System (FIS) Training Canvas Course.  This course provides users with tutorials and training resources to develop an understanding of the FIS.
