Wireless on Campus
Wireless Information
Wi-Fi is available in all residence halls and many outdoor areas utilizing the eduroam, USF, or USF-Guest Networks. Users can use Wi-Fi compatible devices anywhere service is provided; most locations also support the higher speed 802.11a/n/ac standards. All students are recommended to use eduroam wireless while on the USF campus. See below for information.

eduroam Wireless
USF has joined eduroam, an international roaming service that provides students, researchers and faculty/staff with secure, easy-to-use network connectivity across member institutions. In order to use eduroam, you must onboard your computer, tablet, or mobile device by following the instructions linked below.
Wired Connections
A wired connection is available for each resident in the residential spaces on campus. Residents must in order for it to work. If you are having issues with your wired connection, please contact USF IT at help@usf.edu or 813-974-1222.
Game Consoles
If you have a game console that you would like to connect to the USF network, please complete the Game Console Registration Form linked below.
Other Devices (TVs, Printers, Smart Speakers, etc.)
Getting Started
Before you set up a device to connect to the USF network, you must register it. Any device
that doesn't have a web browser must be registered manually. To manually register
your device, you will need to know the MAC (Media Access Control) address, also known
as the Adapter Address.

Registering Your Device
Once you have found the MAC/adapter address for your adive, you are ready to register
it. To register your device, navigate to the and log in with your NetID and password. Fill in the required information, including
the Mac/adapter address and click Register.
Once you've registered your device, follow your user manual’s instructions to set
up the device to use the USF network, and it will automatically connect.

Find the MAC/Adapter Address for Your Device
To manually register your device, you will need to know the MAC (Media Access Control) address, also known as the adapter address. Be sure to use the correct MAC/adapter address depending on your connection type; many devices have both a wireless and a wired MAC/adapter address. If your device is not listed here, please check your user manual or contact the device manufacturer for device-specific instructions.
Amazon Echo
- Download the Amazon Alexa app to your phone or computer and sign in with your Amazon account.
- Connect to the wireless network transmitted by your Echo device.
- The wireless MAC/adapter address for your Echo can be found at the bottom of the Echo Setup screen in the Alexa app.
Amazon Fire TV
- Plug in your Amazon Fire TV stick into your TV.
- If this is the first time using this Fire TV device, the wireless MAC address will appear in the list of wireless networks during setup at the far-right of the list.
- If this Fire TV stick has been used in the past, navigate to Settings > System > About > Network and the wireless MAC/adapter address will be listed at this screen.
Android
- Open the Settings app.
- Select About Device.
- Select Status.
- Your device's MAC/adapter address should be visible here under Wi-Fi MAC Address.
Note: The specific instructions for finding the MAC/adapter address of an Android device may vary slightly based on the manufacturer. If these instructions do not work, consult the manufacturer documentation.
Apple iOS
- Open the Settings app.
- Select General > About.
- The wireless MAC/adapter address is listed next to Wi-Fi Address.
Apple macOS X
- Click on the Apple button in the top-left corner of the screen.
- Click on System Preferences.
- Select Network.
- Under Show, select Airport if using wireless; select Built-in Ethernet if using a wired connection.
- Click on either the Airport or Ethernet tab, depending on your previous selection.
- The Airport ID or Ethernet ID is the MAC/adapter address you need to register.
macOS 8/9
- Click on the Apple button in the top-left corner of the screen.
- Click on Control Panels.
- Click on TCP/IP.
- Click the Info button at the bottom of the TCP/IP window.
Note: If you don't see a button labeled Info, type Command+U to change the User Mode to Advanced; this will cause the Info button to appear. - Beside the words Hardware Address there is a series of numbers. This is the MAC/adapter address you will need to register.
Apple TV
- From the main menu, choose Settings.
- Select About or Network.
- Look for the MAC/adapter address next to Ethernet Address for the wired network or Wi-Fi Address for the wireless connection.
Google Home and Google Home Mini
- Download and open the Google Home app on your phone.
- Follow setup instructions for your device.
- When you reach the Connect to WiFi step, tap the three dots in the upper right corner and choose View MAC Address. This is the MAC/adapter address you will need to register.
Microsoft Windows NT/2000/XP
- Click on the Start menu (located in the lower-left corner of the screen).
- Select Run from the menu.
- In the space labeled Open on the window that appears, type cmd and press Enter on your keyboard.
- A window will appear. Type ipconfig /all into this window and press Enter on your keyboard.
- The wireless MAC/adapter address will be listed under Wireless LAN adapter Wi-Fi next to Physical Address. The wired MAC/adapter address will be listed under Ethernet adapter Ethernet next to Physical Address.
Microsoft Windows Phone
- On the main Windows phone screen, swipe left and select Settings.
- In the Settings screen, select About > more info.
- The MAC/adapter address will be listed under phone information.
Roku
- From the Roku home screen, select Settings > Player Info.
- The wired MAC/adapter address is listed next to Ethernet MAC address. The wireless MAC/adapter address is listed next to Wireless MAC address.
