About
Science and Technology
The Global and National Security Institute will organize its efforts into three Strategic Areas of Focus, the first of which is SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY.
The complexities of global and national security require research efforts in science and technology to inform policy solutions for current and emergent issues. These issues span
a broad landscape including conventional, nuclear and space defense, bio-threats, climate change, energy resiliency, food security, water sustainability, etc.
At the same time, technological advances in areas such as AI, robotics, extended reality, quantum computing, and biometrics increase the policy complexity driving research and understanding. This technology-policy interrelationship is also served by applied engineering which focuses thought leadership and practical effort.
GNSI will serve to coordinate and support broad networks of research faculty and engineering expertise across OneUSF to address national and global security issues including current and future DoD technology turning points.
