Doctor of Philosophy Concentration
Overview
Offered on USF's Tampa campus
The Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in Special Education
is granted on the demonstration of respect for diversity, scholarship, effective teaching
in the teacher education program, skills in systems collaboration, and the ability
to do research culminating in a dissertation. The program focuses on urban special
education, special education policy, and university-school partnerships in preparing
researchers, teacher educators and educational leaders.
New students are admitted into a cohort at the beginning of the fall semester. Although
each student is mentored in all aspects of her or his program, the experience of working
collaboratively with other doctoral students is highly valued in the curriculum.
