Research Assistants
Aziz Rehman is a third-year student majoring in biomedical sciences. His current research interests
are in mindfulness, sleep health, and cognition of healthcare workers. He was accepted
to the USF Morsani College of Medicine and will start medical school in Fall 2023.
Mónika Domenech-Acevedo is a USF graduate who earned a B.S. in Biomedical Sciences and a minor in Aging Sciences. Her curiosity for understanding how the human body works and her desire to restore people’s health inspired Mónika to work towards becoming a physician. While applying to medical school, she continues translating between English and Spanish at the BRIDGE Clinic, a free clinic for the uninsured, and researching at the STEALTH Lab. Her research interests include helping middle-aged individuals extend their healthy life expectancy and investigating the branch of clinical neuroscience.
Andrew Russell is a first-year student pursuing a concurrent degree program in Philosophy and Chemistry. After graduation, he will apply for MD/PhD programs with the goal of eventually working as a physician-scientist. Andrew hopes that through his career and other efforts, he may make the world at least a slightly better place to live in.
Joseph Obiagwu graduated in Summer 2022 with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences and minor in Public Health. Joseph’s research interests include the intersection of sleep, health, and stress, as well as health disparities within minority populations.
Jada Hewitt is a third year student majoring in Public Health and pursuing minors in Biology and Spanish. She plans to attend medical school and earn a Master’s degree in Public Health. Her passions and research interests include community health and behavior, underserved communities and health disparities, maternal and child health, and aging and cognitive sciences. In addition to being a STEALTH Lab research assistant, Jada is also a HIV counselor for USF BRIDGE Clinic and a USF Peer Advisor Leader.
Kian Huang is a second-year student majoring in Biomedical Sciences and minoring in Aging Sciences. His research interests are in overall health and well-being, occupational factors, and public health. He is a part of the 7-year BS/MD Program at USF, and he is studying to become a primary care physician in either family or internal medicine.
Sebastiana Moore is a second-year Biomedical Sciences major with a minor in Aging Sciences. She is interested in cardiovascular health and plans to attend medical school after graduation.
Kali Minick is a third-year student double majoring in Biomedical Sciences and Psychology. After graduation, she plans to attend medical/graduate school. Her primary research interests include investigating the relationship between childhood adversity, sleep, and adult mental health.
Sarah Colston is a recent USF graduate with her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Her research interests include psychiatric illness, trauma, and ways to improve the lives of the public. After furthering her research experience at USF, Sarah looks forward to enrolling in a Ph.D. or Psy.D. program in hopes of becoming a clinical psychologist.
Cassandra Richardson graduated from USF in Spring 2022 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a minor in Nutrition. She has been a part of the STEALTH Lab since its inception in May 2019 and served as a team lead since August 2019. She successfully presented her individual research on the bidirectional associations between daytime- and dream-affect at the Gerontological Society of America (GSA) conference in 2020 and 2021, the USF Psychology Expo in 2020, and the American Psychological Association (APA) conference in 2022, in which she received the Carol Schutz Registration Award (GSA) and Undergraduate Poster Award (USF Psychology Expo).
Cassandra is passionate about researching and developing effective alternative treatment interventions for mental health conditions and utilizing the therapeutic aspects of nature to help others. During her growth year, she will continue with her research in the STEALTH Lab and work as an Adventure Trip Leader through USF Outdoor Recreation. Simultaneously, she will continue developing a new multidisciplinary program in USF Recreation and Wellness called Nature Rx, which is aimed at improving students’ well-being through getting outdoors. Finally, she will be applying to Clinical Psychology Ph.D. programs with the ultimate goal of becoming a researcher-practitioner in the field of Wilderness/Eco-Therapy.
Tanjina Jalil is a graduate student in gerontology. Her current research interests include stress, personality, and work productivity. After graduation, she intends to apply to MD/PhD programs with the goal of becoming a geriatrician-scientist.
Neha Dewansingh is a first-year student majoring in Biomedical Sciences and Psychology. Her research interests include examining the impact of sleep health on physical and cognitive health. After graduating, she plans on pursuing a graduate or medical degree with the ultimate goal of becoming a general surgeon.
Sandra Mampilly is a first-year student majoring in Biomedical Sciences. Her main research interests include how race and ethnicity influence medical treatments, and how sleep and stress affect our cognitive and physical health. After graduation, she plans to attend medical school.
