Overview
Through teaching and mentoring, CBCS works with community partners to prepare students to become service providers, professionals, scholars, and policy makers committed to improving the quality of life, health, and safety of diverse populations. The College also helps promote sustainable communities and organizations and provides systems support for creating positive change for individuals and groups. CBCS' quality educational programs are nationally recognized for their superior quality and priority on student success.
Points of Pride
- CBCS has three top 10 Chronicle of Higher Education-ranked doctoral programs for scholarly productivity (criminology, communication sciences and disorders, and aging studies) and 14 undergraduate majors and master's programs.
- Three CBCS graduate programs are among the nation's top 50 and two additional programs are in the top 100, according to recent rankings released by U.S. News & World Report. Criminology is ranked 18th, audiology is ranked 22nd, rehabilitation counseling is ranked 46th, speech-language pathology is ranked 52nd, and social work is ranked 83rd.
- The college is one of the few in the United States offering bachelor's, master's, and doctoral programs in gerontology and aging studies.
- CBCS faculty serve as editor or on the editoral board of journals such as The Journal of Behavioral Health Services & Research, Stigma & Health, Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis, Cambridge Prisms: Global Mental Health, and The Journal of Educators Online.
