Urban Community Design Program

Program Overview

At the ßÙßÇÂþ» School of Architecture & Community Design, the Master of Urban and Community Design (MUCD) degree is a rigorous three-semester post-professional degree program focusing on issues relevant to the evolving contemporary city. The program is a comprehensive course of study focused on a range of urban issues including post-industrial, global and traditional cities, urbanism and ecology, transit and transportation, towns and communities, sustainability and associated social, economic, political and ethical issues. Stressing community engagement, the program works with regional municipalities, private organizations and stakeholders to define and address complex urban issues.

The program provides opportunities for students to participate in a variety of faculty-led research projects developed in concert with the school's research unit, the Florida Center for Community Design & Research. The program also associates with the ßÙßÇÂþ» School for Global Sustainability and the Department of Urban and Regional Planning in the College of Arts and Sciences. The MUCD program welcomes applications from students holding a professional degree in architecture, landscape architecture or a similar design-based program.
