Financial Requirements
In order for the ßÙßÇÂþ» to issue an I-20/DS-2019, students must submit documentation of available liquid funds to cover the estimated cost of attendance for a full year (two semesters). These estimates include tuition/fees, mandatory health insurance, housing, meals, books/supplies, and other living expenses.
Cost Considerations
Estimates are based on the university’s published tuition rates and are subject to increase without notice. Most international students are classified as Non-Florida Residents and pay Out-of-State Tuition. Additional costs may be assessed depending on your course of study. All international students are required to have health insurance for themselves and their families. Actual housing costs vary by type of housing selected.
Criteria for Financial Documentation
Financial documentation must include: account holder's full name, dated no more than 12 months before the student intends to enroll, official English translation, show liquid assets, and indicate the specific balance, currency, and type of account. You must show funding for the first year but are expected to fund your studies for your entire program. You should not look to employment as a means of support; types and hours are limited.
3rd Party or Family Funding
If a third party, such as a friend/family member/s, will be providing full/partial financial support the supporter/s must: complete and sign an Affidavit of Support and provide financial document (the name/s on the affidavit must match the account holder). If the bank statement is in a company name you must provide a letter confirming that the sponsor is an account holder of the company and able to use these funds to support your educational expe
Sponsored Funding
If you will be sponsored by a scholarship agency, government, home institution, or employer, you must provide an official scholarship award letter including: full name of the student, amount of money provided each year, terms of support, duration of award, and university, degree and major field of study for which the award is available. If sponsored partially, you must show additional financial documentation.
Dependents
Dependents are defined as a spouse (husband or wife) or unmarried children under the age of 21. If you are bringing your dependents with you to USF while you attend your program, you will need to provide additional proof of funding of $5,000 for EACH dependent. Additionally, you should plan on purchasing health insurance for each dependent.
