Fees & Insurance
Bill Payment
We can bill private insurance as some fees may be covered by your medical insurance; please check your policy. If insurance does not cover a fee, you do not have insurance, or you want to self-pay, there are three ways to pay:
- You can self-pay using a debit or credit card
- Transfer the charges to your OASIS account
- Have your insurance company billed directly if you have coverage
Charges on your OASIS account must be paid prior to the end of the semester to avoid a registration hold for the next semester. You are responsible for the balance of all charges not covered by insurance.
Fequently Asked Billing Questions:
Why am I receiving a lab Invoice when I paid at the clinic?
Labs are sent out to an independent facility, and any co-pay, co-insurance, or deductible amounts for outside labs cannot be waived. Therefore, you may receive a separate invoice for lab services.
However, if you paid for your lab work at the time of your appointment or feel you
have received this bill in error, please contact the SHWC Billing Office at
813-974-2331, option 7.
I got a bill in the mail but I paid already.
SHWC will sometimes send bills through the mail. However, if you have paid through your insurance, it is possible that it is an Review Explanations of Benefits (EOB) showing that SHWC charged your insurance. See an example of an EOB here.
MyChart Balance
Even if you paid later or had us charge insurance, there may still be a balance shown on MyChart. The SHWC Billing Department should reflect the change in balance within five business days. If after five business days there is still a charge on your MyChart account, please contact the Billing Department at 813-974-2331, option 7.
For additional questions about billing, please contact the SHWC Billing Office at
813-974-2331, option 7.
Got coverage?
Whether you have your own coverage or are listed on your parent's or spouse's plan,
SHWC accepts many health insurance plans and you won't have to pay a co-pay for general
medical office visits.
How to use insurance at SHWC:
Check to make sure we accept your plan.
- Contact your insurance company to understand what services are covered.
- If you have an HMO plan, tell your insurance company you want one of our medical doctors (MDs) to be listed as your primary care physician (PCP).
- Call 813-974-2331 to make an appointment.
- Bring your insurance card (or a copy of both sides) with you to your appointment.
- SHWC will automatically bill your insurance company for covered services. You are responsible for paying for any non-covered costs.
If you provide SHWC with insurance information but do not want your insurance billed for a specific service, be sure to let the SHWC staff know you want to self-pay when you check out.
