Announcing plans for USF’s Spring 2021 Commencement

I am pleased to announce that our 123rd Commencement will be held in person this May at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg. Ceremonies are tentatively scheduled for Friday, May 7 – Sunday, May 9, 2021.

USF to hold in-person commencement ceremonies this spring

The ßÙßÇÂþ»­ will host its first in-person commencement ceremonies since December 2019, as COVID-19 forced the ceremonies to be held virtually in spring, summer and fall of 2020. Ceremonies are tentatively scheduled for May 7-9.

The fall class includes a graduate making university history, a husband and wife graduating together and a 19 year old only one year removed from high school.

The ßÙßÇÂþ»­ will recognize thousands of summer graduates through virtual commencement ceremonies on Saturday, Aug. 8. Nearly 3,000 degrees will be conferred in the university’s second-ever virtual ceremonies, caused by restrictions on large gatherings due to the coronavirus pandemic.

While the coronavirus epidemic may have halted the ßÙßÇÂþ»­â€™s traditional commencement ceremonies, supporters from throughout the Tampa Bay region found creative ways to honor the spring graduating class of 2020.

2020 USF Virtual Commencement Ceremonies

USF President Steven Currall presides over ceremonies for campuses in Tampa, St. Petersburg and Sarasota-Manatee that includes the conferring of nearly 7,500 degrees. The spring 2020 class features 43 students who hold a perfect 4.0 GPA, 272 student veterans and graduates from 50 states and more than 100 nations. Of the degrees to be awarded, approximately 6,617 are from USF in Tampa, 544 from ßÙßÇÂþ»­ St. Petersburg and 280 from ßÙßÇÂþ»­ Sarasota-Manatee.

President Steve Currall to Lead His First USF Commencement Ceremonies

New ßÙßÇÂþ»­ System President Steve Currall will lead his first commencement exercises during summer ceremonies held Aug. 3-4. Currall officially became USF’s seventh president on July 1. More than 3,200 ßÙßÇÂþ»­ System degrees will be conferred during a total of three ceremonies at the Yuengling Center in Tampa and the Mahaffey Theater in St. Petersburg, including graduates from 48 states and 79 nations.
