Important leadership announcement

Dear USF faculty and staff,

I would like to share some exciting news about our university leadership team. As has been made abundantly clear over the past two years, USF’s facilities and public safety departments represent some of the most critical and valued functions for our university community. As a way to provide even greater support for these units, I am pleased to announce a change in appointment of Carole Post as USF’s new Vice President for Facilities and Public Safety Operations, overseeing Administrative Services, effective March 7.

In this position, Carole will provide leadership in administrative and operational activities for facilities management and campus safety, including University Police and Emergency Management, across the three USF campuses and USF Health, as well as our facilities in downtown Tampa. She will be responsible for a continued commitment to USF’s operational excellence, facilitating quality service delivery to the USF community, aligning land use and property assets with the university’s strategic vision, and promoting compliant business practices and sound resource management while supporting USF’s principles of diversity, equity and inclusion. She will report to Rich Sobieray, Interim Senior Vice President for USF’s Financial Strategy.

Carole already has a strong relationship with USF, having served as Chief Operating Officer for USF Health, where she played an important role in the opening of the new USF Health Morsani College of Medicine in downtown Tampa, among other responsibilities. For the past two years, Carole has been in a temporary shared role between USF and the City of Tampa, working as Mayor Jane Castor’s Administrator for Development and Economic Opportunity while building relationships between the City and USF. In this role, Carole oversaw a large, complex municipal operation including the City’s building, permitting and inspection services, its housing and community development division, zoning and land use, historic preservation, and real estate services. She also oversaw the Tampa Convention Center, City Planning, and Economic Development. This change in appointment allows us to utilize Carole’s talents that she brought to USF Health and the City of Tampa university-wide.

I would also like to thank Chris Duffy, Associate Vice President for Facilities, who has served as Interim Vice President for Administrative Services for the past two years. Chris has provided strong leadership for this important area of the university, and we are very grateful for his contributions.

Please join me in thanking Chris, welcoming Carole officially back to USF on a full-time basis and congratulating her on this important new role.

Sincerely,

Rhea F. Law
President
