Professor John Licato on Using AI to Find Christmas Gifts
An unexpected usage of the LLM is finding Christmas Gifts for those notoriously hard to shop for friends. This past week, John Licato, Associate Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at USF had two interviews on the subject.

USF CyberHerd competed in the Southeast Collegiate Penetration Testing Competition (CPTC) and came in second, scoring a mere 0.009 points behind the first-place winners. “SECPTC is a very intense and fast paced penetration testing competition.” Said Waseem.

NSF Grant Awarded to Dr. Yavuz of USF’s Engineering Computer Science Department for SATUQ Project
Dr. Attila A. Yavuz of USF’s Computer Science and Engineering Department has been awarded a $364,117 NSF grant to advance cybersecurity for integrated satellite-terrestrial networks. His SATUQ project focuses on quantum-resistant cryptography and decentralized security to safeguard critical infrastructure and emerging tech like 6G.
