Six undergraduate students from the ßÙßÇÂþ»â€™s Department of Chemical, Biological and Materials Engineering (ChBME) received scholarships during the 2025 AIChE Southern Regional Conference, held March 28–29.
Recognized at the AIChE Central Florida meeting, the scholarship recipients include:
- Andrea Barrios Rivas, Marketing Co-Chair
- Elizabeth Crawshaw, Chem-E Car Co-Chair
- Alexis Godet, Events Co-Chair
- Md Zawad Karim, Regional Liaison
- Paloma Lopez, Conference Chair
- Tianna Virgo, Vice President

These students were honored for their academic performance and active involvement in AIChE, the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, the leading professional organization for chemical engineering students and professionals.
USF’s AIChE student chapter provides experiential learning through projects, leadership roles and networking with industry professionals. Chapter members prepare for careers in established chemical industries as well as emerging technologies.
Participation in events like the Southern Regional Conference offers students a platform to present their work, build professional skills and represent USF among peer institutions.
The Department of Chemical, Biological and Materials Engineering supports student involvement in professional societies as part of its broader commitment to research, innovation and career readiness.
