Progression to the upper level
The degree program progression to the upper level requirements are outlined in the . Information on this page does not supersede the catalog. The catalog is the definitive source for all requirements. Note that there are additional minimum grade requirements in key classes for progression, consult the catalog. Consult with Engineering Student Services (ESS) advisors if additional information is needed.
Progression to the upper level is not the same as admission. Progression occurs after admission and after the below requirements have been met. Admission requirements are described in the .
COMPUTER SCIENCE
The USF Undergraduate Catalog states:
"All students must complete the equivalent of USF Engineering Calculus I & II, and Calculus-based General Physics I (with lab) with minimum grades of C in each course (grades of C- are insufficient). The minimum overall grade in these three courses required for progression to the upper division is between 3.0 and 3.8 for any given year. The minimum acceptable grade average will be posted on the department’s website one year prior to the Fall Semester that the revised grade average is applicable. The computed grade average is based on the best attempts in these courses. These requirements must be met with a maximum of two attempts allowed for each course."
Starting in Fall 2024, the minimum average grades in the three above noted courses for progression in the Computer Science program is 3.6. Until Fall 2024, the progression minimum grade average is 3.5.
