Background
Bob Sullins received his B.S. in Mathematics at Stetson University and his M.Ed. and Ed.D. in Educational Administration from the University of Florida. Dr. Sullins has formerly served as Dean of Undergraduate Studies at the ßÙßÇÂþ».
He has held tenured faculty appointments in Community College and Higher Education at Virginia Tech and USF and also has filled a number of administrative roles. While in Virginia, he served as Dean of Instruction at Wytheville Community College, as President of New River Community College and as Director of the Division of Administrative and Educational Services at Virginia Tech. He also served as Vice President for Educational and Student Services at St. Petersburg Junior College before his appointment at USF.
Teaching
He has taught graduate courses on the Community College, College Teaching, Finance and Budgeting of Colleges and Universities, Community College Administration and Leadership and College Governance; however, administrative assignments have limited his opportunities to teach in the graduate program at USF and his recent teaching has included only sections of EDH 6081 The Community College in America. He serves on a number of doctoral students’ dissertation committees.
Research and Publications
He has authored or co-authored a number of monographs, articles in professional journals and research reports on topics such as college and university organization, administration, finance, governance and curriculum; state level governance and coordination; high school, community college and university articulation; advising and retention; faculty and staff development; planning and institutional effectiveness. He also has presented papers, speeches and workshops and has consulted with more than 100 colleges and universities on issues similar to his list of publications. His research interests are varied but generally relate to issues of college and university administration and leadership.
Service
He has served in numerous state, regional and national leadership roles with agencies and associations such as the American Association of Community Colleges, the Joint Council on Economic Education, the National Council on Community Services and Continuing Education, the commission on Small Rural Colleges, Kellogg Foundation Advisory Council, and the Florida Council on Instructional Affairs. He currently serves on a number of university committees and councils and is a member of the Articulation Coordinating Committee, the ACC Standing Committee on Postsecondary Articulation Policy, and the Oversight Committee for Common Prerequisites for the Florida Department of Education.
