Dr. Lyman Dukes III earned a BS and MA from the University of Florida and a PhD from the University of Connecticut. He is a professor and the doctoral program coordinator for the Exceptional Student Education program in the ßÙßÇÂþ» (USF). With 30 years of educational experience, Dukes has served in higher education in several capacities, both academically and administratively. 
He has published and presented extensively on topics related to secondary and postsecondary education for students with disabilities, as well as published several books focused on college access and success for students with disabilities. Additionally, Dukes has been awarded local, state, and federal grant funding to promote college access and success for students with disabilities, as well as to support training for doctoral students in exceptional student education.
His current research interests include transition from school to college for students
with intellectual disabilities, universal design for learning in postsecondary education,
guidelines for research on postsecondary education and disability, standards for practice
in higher education accessibility services and and trauma-informed teaching practices.
Beyond his contributions as a faculty member in USF’s College of Education, Dukes
is also the co-principal investigator of the UMatter Program, an innovative inclusive postsecondary education program created to provide young
people with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to experience higher education
and campus life.

Higher Education and Disability (July 2021) - Outstanding Research Award from the College of Education in the University of South Florida’s St. Petersburg campus (2017-2018)
