Published May 5, 2020
The David C. Anchin Center for the Advancement of Teaching will now host the USF AP
Summer Institute completely online.
The AP® Summer Institute provides teachers the opportunity to learn how to teach their
Advanced Placement course from College Board-approved consultants. These consultants
are experts in their subject areas and work with College Board as AP® readers, graders,
and table leaders. Not only is this an opportunity to learn directly from College
Board experts, but also from other instructors from all over the world. This 4-day
intensive online training is designed to enhance the AP® teachers' skills, ability,
and knowledge of their subject regardless of their experience level.
Hosted by the David C. Anchin Center for the Advancement of Teaching, the Advanced Placement Summer Institute at the (USF)
offers a unique learning experience for teachers interested in expanding their knowledge
of AP® course content, structure, and methodology. In addition, the online workshops
afford teachers the opportunity to interact with colleagues and to discuss issues
and concerns surrounding the AP® courses they will teach.
With 65 courses available, the USF AP Summer Institute is the third largest in the world. The Anchin Center is optimistic that it can benefit more teachers this summer through the online format. Caryn Musgrave, Coordinator of Advanced Placement Trainings and Professional Development Programs, said, “We know how impactful this institute is for AP teachers when we’re face-to-face, so we’re grateful for the opportunity to host the institute online. We’re excited about expanding our reach to teachers who can benefit from the institute without having to travel, and we know that having more perspectives from around the area will only enhance the institute.”
