How do I get certified to teach?

What classes do I need in order to get certified to teach?
Answer: The Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) does not have a "one size fits all" checklist; therefore, you will need to apply for certification so they can evaluate your transcript and provide you with an individualized "Statement of Eligibility" so you will know what classes/exams you need to take based on your personal academic history. You can begin the process using the FLDOE's or seek FLDOE information.
What classes do you offer for recertification?
Answer: The Florida Department of Education website lists various types of recertification options on their webpage.

Do you offer any courses that are "quicker" than the traditional semester?
Answer: We do have short semester options. Read about USF's Maymester and Winter Session Program Information.
Can I take all of the necessary classes online?
Answer: We do offer some online courses. To determine availability, please select "Distance Learning" on the USF at and enter the course information for those that interest you from the Recertification Course List or you can search by title.
How do I get certified in another state?
Answer: You will need to contact the Department of Education for the state in which you are seeking certification and they will be able to assist you with their process.
