Instructional technology graduate student, faculty member selected for outstanding research presentation award
(Tampa, Fla. March 27, 2017) — ßÙßÇÂþ» (USF) College of Education doctoral student Ora D.
Tanner and faculty member Dr. Yiping Lou were selected to receive the Outstanding
Research Presentation Award by the (AERA) Special Interest Group in Design and Technology.
"The AERA research award is a great honor and excellent recognition of the work that
Ora has contributed to the project and is contributing to the field of instructional
technology and science education," said College of Education faculty member Yiping
Lou, PhD, an associate professor in the Instructional Technology program.
Tanner, a student in the Instructional Technology Program and a graduate research
assistant, has been working with Dr. Lou on designing and developing innovative science
inquiry games with embedded assessments for middle and high school students as part
of a K-12 Math and Science Partnership grant.
"My time in the Instructional Technology program at USF has been phenomenal," said
Tanner. "I believe the research opportunities, outstanding courses taught by supportive
faculty, and the dynamic mentorship of Dr. Lou have equipped me to pursue a career
as an emerging researcher in my field."
Tanner and Lou's selected research paper, "Design of a Digital Science Inquiry Game-Based
Assessment," will be recognized at the on Friday, April 28 in San Antonio, Texas.
