Jamie M. Clem, PhD, MSW, RYT is an Assistant Professor of Instruction at the School
of Social Work, College of Behavioral and Community Sciences at the University of
South Florida. Dr. Clem has a bachelor’s degree in psychology, an MSW, and a PhD in
Social Work all from Florida State University. Her dissertation research looked at
alcohol use and sexual/ gender-based trauma among college students.
Dr. Clem has worked as a crisis responder with law enforcement, as a mental health
and substance abuse counselor, a medical social worker, and as a macro-practitioner
doing outreach, community organizing, and capacity building with people who are unhoused.
She specializes in working with people who have experienced trauma with specific attention
on alternative treatments- including yoga, meditation, and psychedelic therapies.
Dr. Clem’s most recent research looks at wealth disparity, housing insecurity, and
the environment. She is also very interested in social work education research and
program planning.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her two young boys.
