Faculty, staff, and students from the School of Social Work participated in the 7th annual Interprofessional Education and Practice Day hosted by USF Health. This year's theme was "Fueling Health: Why what we eat matters to ourselves, our community, our patients, and our planet."
Master of Social Work students competed in an "Iron Chef" style cook-off, with a case study, menu development, and presentation. Each team consisted of one student from the following disciplines: social work, medicine, pharmacy, nutrition, public health, and physical therapy.
Social work students Inbar Polak, Sydni Smith, Andrea Valenzuela, Burcu Guldiken, Sandra Accilien, Karessa Johnson, and Megan Fawaz competed in the event. Sandra Accilien was on the overall winning team, and Sydni Smith, Andrea Valenzuela, and Burcu Guldiken's teams were recognized for their menu development, taste, and presentation of food.
Each team was also accompanied by a faculty/staff member from the above disciplines. Vickie Lynn, PhD, MSW, MPH, Lacey Karpisek MSW, MPH, LCSW, and Lianna Hernandez, MSW, represented social work.
