Marilyn Stern, PhD, CRC, professor in the Department of Child and Family Studies (CFS), was invited by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to serve as a standing member of the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI) Single-Site and Pilot Clinical Trials Study Section, Heart, Lung, and Blood Initial Review Group. She will serve a four-year term beginning in July. Stern was an AdHoc member on several different NIH study sections for years.
Stern was nominated because of her demonstrated competence and achievement in scientific discipline as evidenced by the quality of her research accomplishments, publications in scientific journals, and other significant scientific activities, achievements, and honors. Service on an IRG also requires mature judgment and objectivity as well as the ability to work effectively in a group — all skills Stern's nominators believe she will bring to this task.
