Jeongsuk Kim, PhD, MSW, an assistant professor in the School of Social Work, and Jisook Park, PhD, an assistant professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, were awarded USF New Research Grants.
This grant is part of the Internal Awards program and is administered through USF Research and Innovation and Sponsored Research. With the allocation of these awards, USF Research and Innovation aims to support faculty in launching programs of research that result in successful grant proposals to support further research at the university.
The title of Kim's project is "Detecting and understanding immigrant suicide cases involving intimate partner violence in National Violent Death Reporting System."
Park's project, "The Relationship Between Language and Motor Sequence Skills in School-Age Children," aims to develop an understanding of the underlying mechanisms of atypical language development. She hopes to ultimately create linguistically neutral measures to enhance the identification of atypical language development in linguistically diverse environments.
"I am grateful for the support I've received from the department, the college, and the university," Park said. "The USF New Research Grant will be a foundation for my NIH R21 and R01 applications down the line to achieve my long-term goals."
