Theatre 1 (TAT)

Theatre 1 is a multi-use theatre utilized by all disciplines in the College of Design, Art & Performance. Seating 550 guest continental style, Theatre 1 is a proscenium theatre with a fully rigged fly house with 43 line sets. It has two orchestra pits with one lowering to the stage floor and the other to the basement.

Theatre 2 (THR)

Theatre 2 is a mainstage black box theatre with flexible seating that can be arranged in a number of configurations with seating ranging between 150 and 300.

Dance Center (FAD)

USF's Dance Center is exactly that - a center for dance. Our three-story facility houses three 40'x50' studios, observation rooms, reference library, and dressing rooms. Each studio is equipped with floating wood floors covered with cushioned Tarkett flooring to protect dancers from injury, overhead observation rooms, built-in sound, mirrors and walnut barres. Spacious studios also feature grand pianos enabling instructors to conduct classes with live accompaniment.

In addition to the wireless access available on campus, computer stations with complete internet access have been established for student use in research and media editing within the Dance Center.USF has also established a Recreation Center which provides Students and Faculty with state of the art exercise equipment, swimming pool, raquetball and much much more. Many dance student take advantage of the yoga and pilates classes available at the Recreation Center to maintain and condition their bodies outside technique classes.

FAD 105, 107 and 304 – Dance Studios

These three 40' x 50' studios are equipped with floating wood floors covered with Harlequin Standfast vinyl performance flooring to protect dancers from injury, overhead observation rooms, built-in sound, mirrors, walnut barres, and grand pianos.

FAD 210 – Dance Conference Room

FAD 210 a technologically equipped conference room used for faculty meetings, production meetings and as an occasional classroom. 

TAR 222 – Performance Classroom

TAR 222 is a dance studio with a sprung wood floor that is used for movement classes, dance classes, voice work and as a rehearsal room.

 

Theatre Facilities

TAR 120 - Blackbox theatre

Theatre Centre / Theatre Arts Rehearsal (TAR)

The Theatre Arts Rehearsal building is home to the a scene shop, a costume shop, several rehearsal classrooms, including two blackbox theatres (TAR 120 and TAR 130) and the Theatre Department faculty offices.

TAR 120 – Black Box Theatre

TAR 120 is a black box theatre used exclusively by the Theatre Department for an occasional main season production and primarily for performance classes, directing class projects, scene study work, and original works produced by our student theatre organizations.

TAR 130 – Performance Classroom

TAR 130 is a black box rehearsal room for mainstage performances, as well as a performance classroom and performance space for classroom projects, scene study work and student and studio productions.

TAR 110 – Scene Shop

The ßÙßÇÂþ»­ School of Theatre & Dance is equipped with a large scenic/paint studio. Set, prop and painting technical theatre classes are taught in this space and it is also where, under the supervision of the Technical Director and the Scene Shop Manager, all sets and props are built and painted for all mainstage shows.

TAR 211 – Student Classroom

TAR 211 is the student design studio, where theatre design and drawing classes are taught. It also provides room in which student designers have their own space and equipment to work on class projects, mainstage design assistantships and student theatre design work.

TAR 220 – Costume Shop

The ßÙßÇÂþ»­ School of Theatre & Dance is home to a large costume shop. Theatrical costume design and sewing classes are taught in the costume shop, and it is also where, under the supervision of the Costume Design faculty and the Costume Shop Manager, all costumes are built, altered and/or dyed for all mainstage theatre and dance shows.

Storage bins containing multiple fabrics and assorted costume-making materials are lined in shelves along one wall of the costume shop. A dress form stands among the tables covered with fabrics and tools.

TAR 222 – Performance Classroom

TAR 222 is a dance studio with a sprung wood floor that is used for movement classes, dance classes, voice work and as a rehearsal room.

TAR 230B – Theatre Conference Room

TAR 230B is a technologically equipped conference room used for faculty meetings, production meetings and as an occasional classroom. The room also functions as the theatre library where students can check out plays and books related to theatre.

TAR 249 – Student Classroom

TAR 249 is a technologically equipped theatre classroom that hosts classes such as Script Analysis and Contemporary Performance Theory.

TAT 001 – CAD Lab

The Theatre CAD (Computer-Aided Design) Lab, housed in the basement of Theatre 1, is equipped with the latest computers and design software. This technology classroom is used to teach computer drawing and drafting.
