Committed to helping aspiring dance and theatre artists pursue your goals, we offer a variety of merit-based awards and scholarships for incoming and current students. Eligible students are contacted by the school. Students also have financial aid opportunities through the College of Design, Art & Performance and the ßÙßÇÂþ» Scholarships & Financial Aid Services.
Dance Scholarships | Theatre Scholarships
Dance Scholarships
All declared dance majors are eligible for scholarship consideration and there is no application process except when noted.
The allocation of scholarships are determined by the Dance Faculty, unless where noted.
Scholarships are determined via the following criteria:
- Overall contribution to the Dance Program
- GPA – a minimum 3.0 GPA must be achieved in order to receive a scholarship
- Talent (Technical, Performance and/or Choreographic)
Green and Gold Talent Scholarship
Awarded to artistically talented non-Florida residents
Number Available: Varies
Amount: $12,000 ($3,000 per year for four years) for tuition at USF.
Eligibility: All declared dance majors.
Application Procedure: Automatic with USF application.
Decision Date: Applicants for admission to USF by January 2 who submit credentials
by February 1 will be given priority consideration. Students who apply after January
2 will be considered on a funds available basis.

Awarded for excellence in performance and academics.
William Hug Endowed Scholarship
Awarded for excellence in choreography.
Henry S. Parrish Endowed Scholarship in Dance
Awarded for excellence in performance.
Victoria Catherine Selden Dance Scholarship
Senior BFA students are allowed to apply for this scholarship.
Application requires a video/written application.
Michelle Vargas Memorial Scholarship in Dance
Awarded to deserving dance major who shows an innate passion for dance and who is in financial need.
WWD Endowed Scholarship
An incentive scholarship to retain excellent students.
Oscher Family Scholarship in Dance
To establish a scholarship available to full time students in the USF College of Design, Art & Performance on the Tampa campus. Available to Dance majors in any grade level.
Miriam and Charles Fessler Scholarship
Awarded to full or part-time students at all academic levels pursuing a major in dance.
Talent Grant Awards
Awarded to several students a year, Talent Grant awards are based on talent, creativity, service and academic excellence.
Summer Study Scholarships
Summer talent grants to support study outside the USF program are available.
Summer Talent Grants require a proposal submitted to the faculty, due the Monday following
Spring Break.
Typically, first-year students are not awarded summer scholarships.
The John W. Coker Memorial Scholarship
Rotates annually among Art, Music, Theatre and Dance.
The Alexandra and William Frye Endowed Scholarship
Rotates annually among Art, Music, Theatre and Dance.
The Hope Rietchlin Memorial Scholarship
Rotates annually among Art, Music, Theatre and Dance.
The John L. Smith Endowed COTA Scholarship
One award annually, competitive among all COTA students.
The Curtis Marion & David Jordan Scholarship in the Arts
Rotates annually among Music, Theatre, Dance and Art.
Eligibility: Full-time junior or senior, GPA 3.0 or higher

Theatre Scholarships
All declared theatre majors are eligible for scholarship and assistantship consideration. The theatre faculty determines the allocation of scholarships, unless where noted.
All scholarship funds are subject to the continuation of state and university funding.

Amount: Variable up to $750 per semester (fall and spring).
Eligibility: All declared theatre majors. Several awarded per year. Talent grants
are based on talent, creativity, service and academic excellence.
Application Procedure: Designated by chair and faculty.
Decision Date: Variable throughout the year.
Service Award
Number Available: Variable
Amount: Variable up to $400 per semester (fall and spring).
Eligibility: Sophomores and above, majors.

Katie & Elizabeth Jackson Memorial Award in Musical Theatre
Awarded to a student who shows excellence in the area of musical theatre
Covington
Number Available: (1 every 4th year; none in 99/00)
Amount: $1,000+ per year, 1/2 awarded in Fall, 1/2 awarded in Spring
Eligibility: Upper division majors.
Cole/Krewe
Number Available: 1
Amount: $1,000 per year (fall)
Eligibility: Upper division majors.
Playmakers Scholarship
Number Available: 1
Amount: 1,000 per year(Fall)
Eligibility: Senior, performance student majors.
The Lily Award
This scholarship for upper-level students majoring in theatre was established in June
of 2010 by Jane Bangert McNeil to honor her mother Lily Bangert, a former USF Theatre
Student.
Eligibility: Junior, theatre major, 3.0 GPA minimum, intent to go on to graduate school
or into professional theatre.
Application Procedure: Apply in Jan of junior year
Decision Date: Approx. March/April of same year, and effective for student's Senior
