Hosted at New World Tampa, Humanities & Hops is an opportunity for USF faculty to share their research with the community in a fun, casual way at a local brewery. Join us for an evening of discussion on Irish Studies at USF. Doors open at 6:30 PM. Come early to grab a seat and a bite to eat.

This one-day graduate research symposium will take place in the Marshall Student Center on the USF Tampa campus. Free breakfast and lunch is provided for presenters as well as a swag bag.

*As our community continues to recover from the recent hurricanes, we've decided to postpone the event with Alison Rollins. We will announce a new date once that event has been rescheduled.

Alison C. Rollins will read and perform from her groundbreaking collection Black Bell (Copper Canyon Press, 2024). Inspired by the nineteenth-century image of an enslaved woman wearing iron horns and bells, these poems explore the intersections between individual experience and collective memory. Rollins was named a 2023-2024 Harvard Radcliffe Institute Fellow and a National Endowment for the Arts Literature Fellow in 2019. She is an assistant professor of English at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. 

This event is free and open to the public. 

Ocean Vuong is an award-winning poet and the author of On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous, a work hailed as an 鈥渆xpansive and introspective, fragmented and dreamlike鈥�coming of age tale鈥� by the Los Angeles Times. Adored by the literary community and college campuses alike, Vuong鈥檚 talks are thoughtful and engaging discussions on his equally brilliant works.

Born in Saigon, Vietnam, Vuong was raised in Hartford, CT and now lives in Northampton, MA, where he serves as an Assistant Professor in the MFA Program for Poets and Writers at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
