Assistant Professor in Quantum Sensing

The Department of Physics at the ßÙßÇÂþ», Tampa, seeks to fill a 9 month, full-time and tenure-earning, Assistant Professor position in Quantum Sensing. All areas of sensing that encompass new applications in health, environment, energy, and cybersecurity are included. Preference will be given to candidates with existing strengths in research in sensing that integrates with quantum computing, data science, and experimental materials science. The Physics Department has strong research programs in experimental/theoretical biophysics, condensed matter, and optics. USF also offers excellent opportunities to interact with research programs in the College of Arts and Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, including the Moffitt Cancer Center. The National Science Foundation (NSF) ranked USF at No. 25 among public research universities for research spending. Minimum Qualifications Applicants must have a doctorate in Physics or a closely related field from an accredited institution with a demonstrated record of achievement in academic research, and must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor. Preferred Qualifications Relevant postdoctoral experience and demonstrated potential to attract extramural funding and teach at undergraduate and graduate level. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will establish a nationally recognized research program, teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate level, and mentor student research at all levels.
