Stable Isotope Lab
The ßÙßÇÂþ» Stable Isotope Lab (USFSIL) provides stable C, H, O, N, and S isotope analyses of both organic and inorganic samples to researchers from geology, anthropology, biology, geography, and more. We commonly analyze:
- δ13C and δ18O of carbonates (including shells, corals, limestone, speleothems, soil carbonates, and bioapatite)
- δ18O and δD of waters
- δ13C of dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC)
- δ13C of atmospheric and soil CO2
- δ13C, δ15N, %C, and %N of organics (including collagen, tissue, soil, and plant material)
- δ34S of sulfates (solid and solution)
- δ34S of sulfides
- δ34S of organics
- δ18O of enamel phosphate
- δD of volcanic glasses
We are currently developing procedures to analyze:
- δ18O, δD, %O, and %H of organics
- δ18O of sulfates
