Accident/Incident Reporting & Investigation
This training is primarily designed for supervisors, but all employees can benefit.
It will help you understand the University’s accident/incident reporting procedures
and help you improve your accident/incident investigation and report writing skills.

AED Instructional Use
This instructor-led, hands-on course will provide site and device specific training
for the use and maintenance of AED units. It is encouraged for those who take this
training to get CPR & AED American Red Cross certified through EHS.

Asbestos Awareness
This training is to provide knowledge and guidance to faculty, staff and students
of USF on the proper procedures of USF Policies for Assessment, Determination and
Removal of Asbestos. Training consists of origin of asbestos, health effects caused
by asbestos, suspect asbestos building materials and where they may be found, and
the rules and regulations of the EPA.

Back Safety
80% of adults are estimated to experience a back injury in their lifetime. This course
will help you understand how back injuries occur and how to prevent them with proper
posture and using proper lifting, load carrying and unloading techniques..

heavy objects or other objects frequently.

Biomedical Waste Training
Completion of this course will raise awareness of how to manage biomedical waste in
your area and help you to become familiar with the provisions included in the USF
Biomedical Waste Management Plan. Individuals are trained in compliance with the Florida
Administrative Code.

Those who work where biomedical waste is generated.

Biosafety, Radiation & Animal Allergen General Orientation
Completion of this orientation will provide you with an overview of certain hazards
that may be encountered in vivariums and research labs at USF as you provide services
to those areas. You will learn about the various labels and signs indicating the types
of hazards present and the precautions needed to work safely around those hazards.
Who Must Attend?
This course is required for USF maintenance and custodial staff or others who will
service vivariums and research laboratory areas.

Bloodborne Pathogens
This course covers the identification of bloodborne pathogens (BBP). It will provide
an understanding of how these diseases are transmitted, how to determine your risk
of exposure, how to protect yourself from exposure through prevention, how to respond
appropriately if exposed and explain your right to medical evaluations.
Who Must Attend?
Anyone who has a reasonably anticipated exposure to blood or other potentially infectious
materials during the course of their job duties. For example, clinical, police, custodial,
maintenance, and lab personnel may be exposed to bloodborne pathogens as part of their
jobs.

Building Supervisor
This training video will cover the 10 most common State Fire Marshal Violations. The
video helps building supervisors identify and correct common fire hazards in their
facility.

CHEMATIX - User Training
This course will provide instruction for students, staff and faculty who will be using
CHEMATIX to manage chemical inventories and to request waste pickups and supplies.
Online training module includes video playlists of frequently used tasks in CHEMATIX.
Who Should Attend?
Those who work in a lab and will maintain the chemical inventory and/or request waste
pickups or supplies.

CHEMATIX - Receiver Training
Completion of this course will prepare individuals in the role of CHEMATIX Receiver
to safely handle chemicals and enter them into CHEMATIX.

Department and area personnel who receive and distribute chemicals

Compressed Gas Safety
This course is an introduction to types of compressed gas cylinders and their management.
Who Must Attend?
This course is recommended for individuals who work with compressed gas cylinders
in labs, studios/shops, or maintenance areas.

Confined Space Entry
This course includes a discussion of the requirements of OSHA's Permit-required Confined
Space Standard 29CFR 1910.146 and USF's Confined Space Program. Topics include: selection
and use of protective materials and equipment; the duties of confined space entrants,
attendants and entry supervisors, and the requirements of the written permit system.
Who Must Attend?
Employees who are required to work in permitted spaces or those who will supervise
entry to confined spaces.

DOT Regulated Medical Waste
This course is required for individuals who are responsible for certifying regulated
medical waste manifests at USF. The training includes information related to the US
Department of Transportation Hazardous Materials Regulations.
Who Must Attend?
Anyone who works in a location where biomedical waste is generated and who will sign the shipping manifest.

This course was developed by the Florida Department of Transportation to help people learn to be safe while driving.
Who Must Attend?
This course is recommended for individuals who drive any vehicle (rental, personal, University, etc.) on University business.

This course will cover the basic principles and theory of Ergonomics. It will also address the impact of (MSDs) Musculoskeletal Disorders and the risk factors, signs and symptoms associated with it. Several alternatives will be presented to address these situations in the workplace. All employees can benefit from the information in this presentation.

Fire Safety
The purpose of this training is to educate participants on components of fire, the
anatomy of a fire extinguisher, classes of fires, proper use of a fire extinguisher
and emergency evacuation.

Forklift
The intent of this course is to comply with the requirements set forth by OSHA when
operating powered industrial trucks and to certify ßÙßÇÂþ» employees who are operating
forklifts.

Anyone who will operate a forklift

Golf Cart Safety
The University has many golf carts in operation and there sometimes is confusion as
to where to drive, park, speed, and pedestrian safety. This course reviews the safe
operation of utility/golf carts on USF campuses for anyone operating a USF cart.
Who Must Attend?
Anyone who drives a golf cart on campus

Hazard Communication
This course will help you understand the hazards of materials in your work area, help
you interpret information on warning labels, become familiar with Safety Data Sheets
(SDS) and how to protect yourself and how to respond to emergencies.

Non-laboratory personnel who work with hazardous chemicals including, but not limited
to, Custodial, Housing, Parking and Transportation, Maintenance, and Art areas.

Hazardous Waste Awareness and Handling
This course is provided to faculty, staff, and students who generate hazardous waste.
Individuals are trained to be able to comply with EPA hazardous waste regulations.

and waste pick-up.

Those who work in the areas listed below or in other areas where hazardous waste is
generated.

Hazardous Waste Pharmaceutical Disposal
Formerly known as Universal Pharmaceutical Waste training, this course covers the
State and Federal rules for the management of waste pharmaceuticals, including waste
determinations, container management, labeling, storage limits, and the disposal process.
Who must Attend?
Faculty, staff, and students who work in human or animal healthcare settings where
pharmaceutical wastes are generated.

Hearing Conservation
This course will outline what are hazardous noise sources/areas and how they are established.
The explanation/use of noise reduction ratings (NRR) for hearing protection and how
they relate to the selection level of hearing protection.

Heat Stress
This training addresses the effects of heat on the body and methods to use to protect
you while at work and at home. Basic first aid for Heat Stress and Heat Stroke, as
well as alternatives to be used to minimize the heat's impact is reviewed. This training
is a must for workers here in Florida..

Job Safety Analysis
This training is primarily designed for supervisors, but all employees can benefit.
This course will provide you with the information and tools needed to complete an
effective Job Safety Analysis (JSA). This course will discuss what a Job Safety Analysis
is, its purpose, who conducts it, when it is performed, and the 4-step JSA process.
Who Should Attend?
All supervisors, those who may become supervisors, or those with an interest in this
topic.

Lab Safety
This introductory course covers the basic principles of keeping laboratories safe.
It is offered to faculty, staff, and students that work in USF laboratories.

Lab Safety PI Workshop
The PI Lab Safety Workshop is designed with a Principal Investigator's busy schedule
in mind. During the 20 minute duration of the interactive workshop, PIs are informed
of their responsibilities regarding safety in their labs and encouraged to share any
concerns they may have. PI workshops may be offered as a stand-alone training or worked
in with a regular faculty meeting. Please contact EH&S to set up a PI workshop for
your group.

Prinicpal Investigators with labs where hazardous chemicals and materials are used.

Lab Safety TA Workshop
Provides Teaching Assistants with specialized information relevant to their jobs.
In addition, this hour-long interactive workshop gives TAs hands-on experience in
situations they may encounter while directing undergraduate students in the lab. This
workshop fulfills the annual safety training requirement. Please contact EH&S to set
up a TA Lab Safety Workshop for your group.

Ladder Safety
This training is designed for personnel who use ladders in the course of their work.
Who Must Attend?
Maintenance, Custodial, Utilities, Grounds, Alarm shop or anyone with a position
that requires them to use a ladder.

Lockout - Tagout
This training is designed for personnel who perform electrical work, repairs or maintenance
to machines or equipment and personnel who use machines or equipment for which a hazard
of unexpected energization, start-up, or release of hazardous energy could harm employees.

Maintenance, Mechanics, Auto Mechanics, HVAC, Utilities, Grounds, Alarm shop or anyone
with a similar position

Personal Protective Equipment
To help you understand the PPE hazard assessment process, to understand why different
types of PPE are selected and to know how to properly wear and care for PPE.

Respiratory Protection
Personnel who are required to wear respirators at work must receive training annually.
Topics reviewed in the initial training include an overview of the OSHA Respiratory
Protection Standard, 29CFR 1910.134, respirator protection factors, proper use and
care of a respirator and cartridges, respirator inspection and maintenance, and respirator
limitations.
Who Must Attend?
Any employee required to wear a respirator during work activities.

Respiratory Protection Fit Test
Personnel who are required to wear a tight-fitting respirator at work must be fit
tested before wearing the respirator in the work environment. Prior to fit testing,
personnel must provide a medical clearance from a physician or licensed healthcare
professional. An overview of respiratory protection training specific to the type
of respirator to be used will be provided at the fit test. Note: Departments must
provide appropriate (type and size) respirators for their personnel to be fit tested.

Slips Trips & Fall Hazards
Slips, Trips, and Falls account for 15% of all accidental deaths. This course will
help you understand how to recognize slips, trips and falls as a serious safety problem,
identify slip, trip and fall hazards on the job, how to avoid or eliminate slip, trip
and fall hazards, prevent falls from heights and on stairs, at work, outdoors and
at home and finally, to help minimize your injuries if you do fall.

Spill Prevention, Control & Countermeasure Plan Training
This regulatory required course covers the prevention of oil discharges, control measures
in place to prevent a spill from reaching the environment, and the procedures for
response to releases of oil to the environment.
Who Must Attend?
Employees that are involved in oil handling, transfer, storage, and maintenance of
oil equipment, or spill response at campuses with SPCC Plans in place.

Stormwater Training
The purpose of this course is to define stormwater pollution, discuss reasons why
it is important to prevent stormwater pollution, discuss ways to prevent stormwater
pollution, and to learn what illicit discharges are and how to report them.

Employees in certain Tampa campus departments whose operations may adversly impact
the stormwater system. Project managers who oversee construction sites.
