The Judy Genshaft Honors College celebrated the start of the 2023 Fall semester and the opening of its new building on the ’s Tampa campus with a Welcome Home Celebration and Student Lunch on August 18, 2023. Hosted by USF President Emerita Judy Genshaft and her husband Steven Greenbaum, Honors students, faculty, and parents enjoyed delicious food, desserts, and refreshments from local food trucks. Honors community members celebrated while listening to live music outside before touring the building's classrooms, creative spaces, cultural studios, and student collaboration spaces.
"This is a space where we can finally come together. Students and faculty can bring their skills and ideas, explore possibilities in our unique learning spaces, and take on the challenges of our complex world.” - Lindy Davidson, associate dean of academic affairs
The Welcome Home Celebration was a successful kickoff to the new semester and the culmination of years of anticipation for the new Honors building for the entire Honors community. “The event was a great success,” said Dr. Charles Adams, Judy Genshaft endowed dean of the college. “The food was great, the mood was festive, and it was great to see the students and their families so excited for the new academic year. We’re very grateful to Dr. Genshaft and Mr. Greenbaum for making it all possible!”
It was a day of food, smiles, and excitement as Honors community members dream about what’s possible in the facility. “The advancements to be achieved in the new Honors building are up to the imagination and ingenuity of our Honors students,” mused Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, Lindy Davidson. “From the sandbox classrooms where student will come together to learn, to the creative studios, the possibilities are truly limitless.”
