From Baton Rouge to the CDC: The journey of one COPH alum
USF’s College of Public Health (COPH) alum Euna August describes herself as a biracial (African American and Korean) woman who hails from Baton Rouge, La. “My parents, who taught me the value of education and hard work, laid the path for me to pursue excellence,” she said.

From swimmer to soldier: the public health journey of Lt. Col. Sean Beeman
Although born in Kansas, USF College of Public Health (COPH) alumnus Sean Beeman considers Trophy Club, Texas, his hometown. And being a competitive swimmer in high school gave him the jumpstart to join the Navy and serve as a search and rescue swimmer for 14 years, which eventually led him down a lifelong path of military service and public health.

One postdoc’s journey from MCH fellowship to the CDC
Dr. Megan Barry recently completed a postdoctoral MCH fellowship with the COPH. The fellowship is a two-year program on research pertaining to maternal/infant health, child/adolescent health, women’s health, sexual/reproductive health, family/community violence and unintentional injury.
