Wendy Steiger, assistant registrar in the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine Department of Medical Education, was recently recognized as a culture champion for her work behind the scenes to meet the needs of students, staff and faculty.

Among her many duties, Steiger maintains student records, oversees the Visiting Student Learning Opportunities process for students rotating to programs outside of USF Health and communicates and coordinates with other medical schools, state and federal licensing agencies and other healthcare organizations.

Steiger was praised by a new staff member within the Department of Medical Education for consistently going out of her way to help navigate the complexities of the university and the medical school. And when Steiger didn’t know the answer to a question, she personally ensured that the new employee knew where to find it, even escorting them to the proper source of information.

Her supervisor, Marrissa Cook, USF Health registrar, also lauded Steiger’s “just do it” approach to meeting the needs of students and her determination to find solutions whenever challenges arrive.

“This is a role Wendy naturally stepped into seemingly, without a second thought. It’s so important to have people who consistently jump in and help you through a unique and novel challenge,” said Cook.  I’m so proud to call Wendy a fellow registrar and friend, and she deserves to be recognized as a culture champion.”
