MCOM professor earns national award as methodology expert

(Center) Ambuj Kumar, MD, MPH,  associate professor in the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine Department of Internal Medicine, and director of research methodology and biostatics, received the Patience Guidelines Distinguished Service Award from the American Society for Transplantation and Cellular Therapy. 

Ambuj Kumar, MD, MPH, director of research methodology and biostatistics, and associate professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine, recently received the Practice Guidelines Distinguished Service Award from the American Society for Transplantation and Cellular Therapy during the organization’s recent annual meetings in San Antonio, Texas.

To date, Dr. Kumar has contributed to seven clinical practice guidelines for the international organization, and is currently drafting five more, with the ASTCT as the methodology expert.  

“I am honored and excited to be the 2024 recipient of the award,” Dr. Kumar said. “I’d like to thank the ASTCT for the commission of my work and a big thank you to my colleagues for their continued collaboration, commitment, and support to improving the field of transplant restorative therapies.”   

The ASTCT is an international organization of more than 3,900 physicians, investigators, and other health care professionals.  Their mission is dedicated to improving the application and success of hematopoietic cell transplantation and related cellular therapies.
