Master of Arts in Teaching
Overview
Offered on USF's Tampa campus
The Master of Arts in Teaching in Foreign Language Education is designed for individuals who wish to become certified teachers in foreign language at the elementary, middle, or high school level in the following languages:
- Chinese
- French
- German
- Italian
- Japanese
- Latin
- Russian
- Spanish
By completing this degree, students can earn a state of Florida ESOL endorsement at the same time as the master’s degree.
The degree does not require any coursework to be taken in the foreign language to be taught. For this reason, this degree is most appropriate for native speakers of the language or for people with a strong proficiency in the language to be taught.
Field Experiences and Internship
A gradual sequence of field experiences is mixed into the program, which culminates with a semester-long internship in one of USF's partner school districts. Learn more about our field experiences on the Office of Field and Clinical Education's website.
