Samantha Thomas received two Bachelor degrees, in Art History and Sign Language Interpretation, from the ßÙßÇÂþ»­ in 2011. Upon graduation, she obtained her National Interpreter Certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf and a score of 4.4 on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment. She then continued her education at Columbia University and graduated with her Master’s degree in Teaching ASL as a Second Language in 2014. Samantha joined USF as a full-time instructor in the ITT/ASL program during 2015. Her areas of interest are in language/interpreting skill development outside the confines of a classroom, cognitive linguistics for language learners, and socratic methods of teaching. Outside of teaching she enjoys traveling internationally and is a sci-fi enthusiast.
