CFS Research and Grant Activity Shows Impressive Results for Current Fiscal Year
Although the fiscal year for USF does not end until June 30, CFS research and grant activity already shows an impressive effort among faculty and staff who participate in high-impact research and innovation to change lives, improve health, and foster sustainable development and positive societal change.
By mid April, 71 proposals totaling $52,558,985 were submitted and 20 of the proposals have been funded. An additional 20 proposals are in various stages for submission.
Including CFS's existing grants, up to 75 active grants have been managed across the fiscal year, with the total life-value of the awards equaling $61,655,684. Research, training, and technical assistance projects spread across topics, including:
- Autism and related disabilities
- Child welfare system and practice improvement
- Community supports
- Early childhood
- Positive Behavior Support
- Quality Improvement
- Reduction in mental health disparities
- School success
- Substance abuse
- Trauma-based support
- Workforce development
According to USF Research & Innovation reports (Top Awardees), CFS had 9 researchers in the top 100 of grant awardees across USF and 6 researchers in the top 10 grant awardees in CBCS.
“I want to congratulate all of our CFS faculty, both Research and Tenured, for the incredible effort at applying for external funding. This is particularly noteworthy because it was accomplished during a very challenging time where existing grant activities had to pivot efforts to a virtual approach," said CFS Department Chair Professor Mario Hernandez. "I also want to acknowledge that CFS could not be productive without the support of our pre-and post-award administrators and staff. Without their support we could not be as productive in applying for funding and also in managing a diverse grant/contract portfolio! Hats off to everyone in CFS for an incredible effort!”
More information on CFS's research, training, and techical assistance efforts can be found in the most recent Impact Report.
