Leah Worthey earned her PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision and Master of Science in Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling at Auburn University. Her clinical experience includes work with the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Counseling Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Services and the Auburn University Career Center, as well as in private rehabilitation. Dr. Worthey has also worked at the Auburn Transition Leadership Institute, which aimed to improve pre-employment transition services for students with disabilities and provide professional development opportunities to rehabilitation professionals.

Dr. Worthey served as an instructor and co-instructor at Auburn University. Graduate counseling courses taught include: Group Counseling and Counseling Theories. Undergraduate counseling courses taught include: Internship, Practicum, Ethical Practices in Rehabilitation and Introduction to Rehabilitation.

Dr. Worthey has served in a number of leadership positions for professional organizations, including Co-President of Iota Delta Sigma and President of the Alabama Division of the American Rehabilitation Counseling Association. Her research interests include animal-assisted interventions, disability advocacy and awareness, pre-employment transition services and ethical practices within the rehabilitation counseling field. Dr. Worthey has also engaged in a number of advocacy events aimed at increasing disability and mental health awareness within the community.
