Janet is the Contracts and Grants Manager for the Department of Child and Family Studies. Her main responsibilities are to lead the pre-award team on grant proposals and submissions as well as post-award contract renegotiations, modifications and extensions. She is also responsible for pay distribution for CFS.
Janet began working at USF in fall 2007. From 2009-2017, Janet served as a USF TRAIN® Associate. This internal designation is given by the Research Administration Improvement Network (TRAIN®) to employees who have been vetted as subject matter experts in a particular aspect of pre-award and/or post-award. Janet provided expertise in the areas of Facilities & Administrative (F&A) Cost Rate, pay distribution and preparing project budgets. She served as a TRAIN Ambassador (1 of only 9 university wide) from 2015-2017. TRAIN Ambassadors represented their college and interests and provide input into trainings, meetings, and policy changes to the Department of Sponsored Research. She also served as a TRAIN Lead Instructor for the CRS-USF/Advanced Course.
Janet has received numerous nominations and awards for her service, both to the university and department, including being a Research Administrator in the Spotlight for Research Administrator Day 2016. In April 2023, she was appointed by the Vice President for Research and Innovation and President of the Research Foundation to serve as a Project Champion and Advisor for USF’s first ever comprehensive Grants Management System. This role requests input from 20 individuals University-wide on the design, testing, training and post-production phases of the project.
