Shanica Meadows has been with the since 2007. She started as a home visitor, educating and teaching parents in the community how to become their child’s first teacher. Shanica has also been a lead HIPPY home visitor, providing guidance and assistance for new employees.
Shanica is now a home visitor with HIPPY, as well as the HIPPY liaison for a collaborative program with the Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (CARD-USF) which provides HIPPY services to children with autism and related disabilities for the purpose of increasing their success in school. Shanica has found great passion and love in working with children and parents affected by autism and related disabilities. Shanica has 3 kids; her oldest boy, now 12, is on the autism spectrum. Because of her personal experience with autism she can relate with these families in so many different ways, and they appreciate it so much. It provides Shanica great fulfillment to help parents bond, gain confidence, and become successful teachers to their child—regardless of the disability.
Shanica also has two girls that have graduated from the HIPPY program. Her youngest daughter is currently in the gifted program at her school. They both love HIPPY and reading. HIPPY has had a great influence in this and all their educational successes.
