Gabriel Mocelin
Gabriel Mocelin is a senior double majoring in Finance and Econometrics & Quantitative Economics. He was born and raised in Porto Alegre, Brazil, and came to America in 2017.
Throughout his college career, he was president of one of the largest Investment Clubs in the U.S. (2,000+ LinkedIn followers). He spearheaded the fundraising of $45,000 for the club, leading to the foundation of the first endowment fund for a student organization at USF. He was also president of the largest Brazilian Student Association in the world (300+ members). He led the team in fundraising $45,000 for the organization, leading to the foundation of the second endowment fund for a student organization at USF. The funds for both organizations were used for expenses and scholarships to students in financial need.
On the professional side, Mocelin started his career in finance as the first intern at a four billion dollar private equity/credit fund in Tampa, Star Mountain Capital, where he worked for 18 months and assisted in the creation of the internship program which hired 12+ Muma students to the program since inception in March 2022 and three full-time employees.
Mocelin was the first person from USF to join Goldman Sachs as a Global Banking and Markets Summer Analyst in New York City in the summer of 2023, and he will start full-time as a Structured Finance Analyst in New York City upon graduation.
Perseverance and guidance have shaped his college years, and he is very thankful for the advice of many mentors along the way. He says that without them, his accomplishments would not have been possible.
His interests outside of school are basketball, snowboarding, antique coins, gastronomy, bespoke suits, timepieces, credit cards, and traveling.
