ST. PETERSBURG (July 2, 2021) -- In the spring 2021 semester, the Kate Tiedemann School
of Business and Finance launched the Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) Exam Scholarship
Program. The program, sponsored by Franklin Templeton, provided 20 scholarships for
students to take the exam. The scholarship also gave free access to review materials
by CeriFi.
“It would be a major boost to pass the test as early as possible,” said Jonathan Ebberhart,
J.P. Morgan private bank analyst and USF alumni, “as it will make any student that
much more competitive in comparison to their peers.”
Nine of the 20 students who received the scholarship passed, another eight had to
delay the exam to the summer months. Professor Leo Chen talked about the benefit that
Franklin Templeton provided to Kate Tiedemann School of Business and Finance students
by sponsoring these exams.
“This scholarship provides the unique opportunity for our students to complete their
SIE exam before they join the world of Finance,” he said. “SIE is required before
any Series license exam, while Series is mandatory for many roles in finance.”
