TAMPA (July 11, 2017) -- The Information Systems and Decision Sciences department with the ßÙßÇÂþ»'s Muma College of Business was ranked No 30 in business school research rankings compiled by the University of Texas at Dallas.
The rankings are based on scores of more than 300 business schools and colleges across North America and include data collected from the three top research journal publications between Jan. 1, 2014 and Dec. 31, 2016. ßÙßÇÂþ» scored higher than all other public universities in the state except the University of Florida.
The ISDS department also ranked higher than Harvard University and the University of Pennsylvania, according to the survey.
"We are a research-intensive department and this ranking is made possible by the research excellence of our faculty" said Manish Agrawal, ISDS chair. "We are working to integrate research into all our academic programs so that all our graduates have the opportunity to experience the thrill of working with our faculty and taking unstructured research questions and addressing these questions in a structured manner."
He also talked about the strong doctoral program within the ISDS.
"These publication rankings, in large part, reflect the quality and preparation of our PhD students," he said. "We recently created a beautiful, dedicated workspace for our PhD students to further improve their productivity."
The Muma College of Business was ranked in the top third of all North American universities based on publications of all top-tier business research journals over the same time period, according to the rankings, which placed the Muma College of Business in the overall top 100, at No. 95.
The rankings also put the Muma College of Business Marketing Department at No. 62 worldwide for publications in the top marketing journals and the finance department at No. 90 in North America for research articles published in prominent finance journals.
The rankings are compiled by the UT Dallas' Naveen Jindal School of Management through an online database which tracks 24 major business journals from around the world. The database collects all publications dating back to 1990 and produces annual rankings for universities globally.
Rankings take into account publication of articles written with one author along with articles that were authored by several people, including those who work at different universities.
