Muma College of Business Hands Out Nearly $350,000 in Scholarship Money
More than 150 students receive scholarship assistance from various donors
TAMPA – The ßÙßÇÂþ»'s Muma College of Business will give away nearly $350,000 in scholarship money at the 2010 Scholarship Luncheon to be held on August 27. During the luncheon, which will take place in the Muma College of Business atrium starting at 11:45 a.m., more than 150 students will have the opportunity to meet with scholarship donors.
Scholarship recipients Jorge Soriano and Jacri Stubbs will speak at the luncheon. Soriano, a finance major from Tampa, is a Cuban immigrant who was made fun of in school because he had difficulty learning English, while Stubbs, a marketing major from Miami, grew up in the projects with a father who was in jail for dealing drugs. Both will speak about what the awards mean to them and how the scholarship money allows them the opportunity to go to USF.
"This is a valuable opportunity for donors to meet with the students who benefit from their generosity," said Bob Forsythe, dean of the Muma College of Business. "It's also a chance for students to personally thank donors for their continued support in helping them achieve their educational goals."
The Muma College of Business has been hosting the luncheon for 20 plus years. It's proud to provide these scholarships every year as they help students pursue their business education.
