BIOGRAPHY

Allison Long is a first-year M.A. student at the ßÙßÇÂþ»â€™s Department of Communication focusing on health communication. She was born in Louisville, Ky., and grew up in Sarasota, Fla. She then went on to the University of Florida in Gainesville, where she earned a bachelor's degree in journalism. During her award-winning photojournalism career, she worked for a number of newspapers, including The Biloxi (Miss.) Herald, The Tallahassee Democrat and The Kansas City (Mo.) Star and covered, among other events, two World Series, the chaos of the 2000 presidential election, numerous hurricanes--including the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans and Mississippi--and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. In 2019, she returned home to Florida to serve as multi-media journalist for ßÙßÇÂþ» Health.

As a communications professional, and a health communications professional in particular, she is fascinated daily by what she and others like her can do to reach the public and provide the information they need to make the best choices to protect and improve the health of themselves and their families.
