Research Interests
Madhu Pandey is an expert in pharmaceuticals. As a chemical scientist, she uses techniques such as spectrophotometry and chromatography to study elements like iron, nickel, cobalt and other trace metals. While working in the pharmaceutical industry, Pandey helped develop and test pharmaceutical drugs for quality control before pivoting her focus towards teaching the next generation of chemists. She was involved in the discovery of two new compounds for water filtration, graphene-titanium oxide and molybdenum-titanium complex, which received a patent accepted by 26 countries, including the United States.
Dr. Pandey launched ßÙßÇÂþ» St. Petersburg’s Study Abroad India program, working in partnership with the India Institute of Technology and Bennett University, to give students the opportunity to learn about sustainable development and energy harvesting on the subcontinent. She has received numerous grants and awards since joining USF’s St. Petersburg campus, including the Chancellor’s Award for Teaching in 2011, Service Award from the Environmental Science, Policy and Geography Department in 2014-2015 and the World Faculty Travel Grant from USF in 2015-2016.
Dr. Pandey teaches undergraduate courses in analytical, organic and general chemistry. She has served as a faculty advisor for students conducting research in materials science, including developing state-of-the-art solar cells and water purification technologies.
