STEER: Systemic Transformation of Education through Evidence-Based Reforms
Grant Overview
STEER’s goal is to retain STEM majors and strengthen their preparation to meet the national need for a technology-competent workforce. STEER fosters the use of proven teaching strategies that help engage students and reinforce their interest in science.
The STEER team has leveraged grant resources to institute systemic change by addressing three key components: faculty, students, and the institutional environment in which they interact. The project utilizes multiple, simultaneous initiatives to stimulate and sustain faculty interest in adopting inclusive, research-based teaching methods to create University and department cultures that value, expect, and reward teaching excellence.
